Iran demands reparations from the US

Araghchi stated that the agreement with Oman regarding the strait is in its final stages, Reuters reports.

According to him, the document will define new shipping routes that will be used once the US meets all the stipulated conditions.

Araghchi stated that Tehran and Washington are currently not holding direct negotiations. He added that Iran refuses to resume dialogue as long as the US violates the interim agreement signed in June. Currently, the countries exchange messages only through diplomatic intermediaries.

"We're only partially negotiating with them. We're just watching Iran with their massive inflation and the fact that they don't have any money," said US President Donald Trump.

He noted that the resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz would be directly dependent on the US paying reparations for damages caused by large-scale military strikes against Iran.

The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, voiced other demands: the US must cease threats and aggression against Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq, lift the naval blockade in the Persian Gulf, lift sanctions against Iran, and release frozen Iranian assets.
