Macron demands Trump stop the war in Gaza

Macron expressed the opinion that only the US president currently has enough influence to put pressure on Israel and convince it to end the war, Reuters reports.

"There is only one person who can do something about this, and that is the US president. And the reason why he can do more than we can is because we do not supply the weapons that make it possible to wage war in Gaza... The US does," Macron said.

He referred to details of Trump's speech at the General Assembly, in which the US president rejected initiatives by a number of Western countries to recognize the Palestinian state, calling it “a reward for Hamas,” but also spoke of the need to immediately stop the war.

“The US president said from the podium this morning that he wants peace, that he has settled seven wars, that he wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel Peace Prize is only possible if you stop this war,” Macron added.
