The Russian Foreign Ministry has dismissed as fiction reports in Western media that European diplomats privately warned Moscow that they were prepared to shoot down Russian fighter jets in the event of further violations of NATO members' airspace.
“I saw it, but I don't understand what it's about at all. It seems to me that this is just another fabrication by this particular Western agency,” said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, adding that this is “news in quotation marks” and was fabricated to develop the theme of completely Russophobic, aggressive, abnormal rhetoric from Western Europeans, according to European Truth.
"I think this is being done deliberately and specifically to amplify the statements of EU representatives who are fueling this aggressive rhetoric and atmosphere around Russia and the future of the European continent as a whole. They constantly talk about the need for militarization, to crack down on our country using various methods, accusing it of drone attacks, cyberattacks, and so on," Zakharova added.
