US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg, has confirmed that Trump is willing to promise Putin not to expand NATO eastward if such a demand is a condition for ending the war.
“I think it's a valid concern. This is an issue Russia will always raise. They're not just talking about Ukraine. They mention Georgia and Moldova as well. And we say: okay, we can discuss stopping NATO expansion to your border. These are their security interests,” he said.
He emphasized that Ukraine's accession to NATO is not on the agenda, and that such a position is shared by at least four member states of the Alliance, ABC News reported.
“We have repeatedly said that for us Ukraine's accession to NATO is not on the agenda. And we are not the only country that says so. I can name four other NATO countries that will confirm this. And we need all 32 countries to agree to join,” he said.
