US President Donald Trump supported the possibility of a bilateral meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia after Zelenskyy sent an open letter to Putin outlining such a proposal.
Trump welcomed the proposal, denying that the US had abandoned the negotiating process, according to European Pravda.
"Well, I don't know. I'm glad they're possibly talking about a meeting. I think we have a direct relationship with that. I think it would be wonderful if they met. They should do that," Trump added.
He was asked what concessions Washington is proposing to Russia and Ukraine in the negotiating process. Trump avoided a direct answer, but stated that both sides would be forced to compromise.
"They'll both make compromises. I've proposed those compromises. And, you know, we've put a lot of effort into that," Trump replied.
