USA warned Russia against attacks on Kyiv

Bruce noted that the strikes on Ukraine, in particular those using Oreshnik ballistic missiles, have resulted in the deaths of civilians and injured over a hundred, according to Ukrinform.

"Russia's latest massive strikes on Kyiv, including the use of Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missiles, are an inexplicable, dangerous, and barbaric escalation," she said.

She noted that museums, public transportation facilities, residential buildings, and other facilities were destroyed or damaged during the attacks.

"Targeted attacks against civilians are unacceptable and abhorrent," Bruce emphasized, offering her condolences to the victims.

The United States warns Russia against so-called systematic strikes on Kyiv, which could increase casualties and complicate prospects for peace.

She expressed grave concern about Russia's failure to comply with its obligations to protect diplomatic facilities and personnel under international law.

"We remind Russia in clear terms of its legal obligations," she emphasized, adding that diplomacy and negotiations are the only path to lasting peace.

"The United States reiterates its call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire as a step toward a sustainable, negotiated end to the war," she said.

According to her, the alternative is a further escalation of violence that will spiral out of control, and this is unacceptable.

The United States is ready to play a constructive role if the parties genuinely commit to peace.
