The US has released a list of abuses at USAID

"For decades, USAID has been unaccountable to taxpayers as it funneled vast sums of money to pointless - and, in many cases, malicious - pet projects of entrenched bureaucrats with little or no oversight," the White House said in a statement.

The list included

- hundreds of millions of dollars to fund "irrigation canals, farm equipment, and even fertilizer used to support unprecedented poppy cultivation and heroin production in Afghanistan" benefiting the Taliban;

- hundreds of thousands of meals that went to al Qaeda-linked militants in Syria;

- millions for EcoHealth Alliance, which was involved in research at the Wuhan lab;

- $6 million. dollars to finance tourism in Egypt;

- 2.5 million dollars for electric cars for Vietnam.
