Trump announces creation of "Peace council"

Trump noted the transition to the next phase of the 20-point peace plan for Gaza, as previously announced by US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff.

"As Chairman of the Peace Council, I support the newly appointed Palestinian technocratic government, the National Gaza Governance Committee, supported by the Council's High Representative, to govern Gaza during the transition period. These Palestinian leaders are unwaveringly committed to a peaceful future!" he said.

Trump boasted that since the ceasefire, his team has provided a record amount of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

He said these results have paved the way for the next phase.

"With the support of Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar, we will secure a comprehensive demilitarization agreement with Hamas, including the surrender of all weapons and the dismantling of all tunnels. Hamas must immediately fulfill its obligations, including the return of the last body to Israel, and proceed with full demilitarization without delay," he said.

Trump reminded Hamas that this can be achieved the easy way or the hard way.

"The people of Gaza have suffered long enough. The time has come," he said.
