US President Donald Trump said the decision to suddenly change tariff policy and delay new duties for 90 days came "from the heart" and he made it without talking to lawyers.
"Just wrote it. We didn't use ... We didn't have access to lawyers ... We wrote it from the heart. It was written from the heart, and I think it was written well," he said.
Trump said he had been watching the bond market, Politico reported.
"I saw last night that people were getting a little bit sick. Things had been looking pretty bleak the last couple days - and then I think it became the biggest day in the history of finance. That's a pretty significant change," Trump said and emphasized that no other president would have done what he did.
