Duties
The U.S. will retaliate against the EU's countermeasures against its new 25 percent tariffs on steel and aluminum, raising the risk of a further escalation of the global trade war.
On March 12, duties on metals coming into the U.S. from around the world went into effect. That prompted immediate retaliation from the EU and Canada, and prompted other countries to step up talks with the Trump administration to lift import duties, Bloomberg reported.
“Of course I'm going to respond. The problem is our country hasn't responded. Look, the EU was created to take advantage of the US,” said US President Donald Trump.
