U.S. President Donald Trump has spoken of growing tensions in relations with Iran and a de facto loss of patience with Tehran amid the escalating situation around the Strait of Hormuz, disruptions in global energy supplies, and an escalation of security incidents in the region.
Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed during talks in Beijing on the need to keep the shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz open, Reuters reports.
“I’m not going to be much more patient. They have to make a deal,” Trump emphasized.
Commenting on the issue of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles, he stated: “I don’t think it’s necessary, except perhaps from a public relations standpoint. I’d just be better off if I had it, actually. But I think it’s more for public relations than for anything else.”
