Ukraine will not receive Polish fighter jets

He proposed a partnership approach to Ukraine based on the MiGs-for-drones formula. Kosiniak-Kamysz claims that the Ukrainian authorities initially agreed to this but subsequently reneged on the agreement, according to Polsat News.

"I proposed what I believe to be a very partnership-based approach: MiGs in exchange for drones. The Ukrainians initially agreed but did not fulfill this agreement, so there will be no MiGs for Ukraine, as Poland has neither drones nor the capabilities to use them," he said.

The minister acknowledged that Ukraine has significant capabilities in unmanned aerial vehicle technology and, in his view, the exchange of experience and technology should have become an important component of solidarity and bilateral military cooperation between the countries.

"Ukraine has such significant capabilities in the drone field that, in exchange for the military equipment transferred to it, it could share know-how with Poland and provide partial access to the technology," Kosiniak-Kamysz stated.

The current Polish government is much more assertive in defending its national interests in relations with Ukraine than its predecessors and insists on the principle of solidarity.

Kosiniak-Kamysz does not consider the previous Polish government's decision to transfer military equipment to Ukraine at the beginning of a full-scale Russian invasion without any preconditions a mistake.

"They did the right thing; I'll go further: I would have done the same. Ukraine was in a much more difficult situation then," he stated.
