U.S. is preparing to seize an Iranian island

In recent days, senior U.S. officials have informed their counterparts in Israel and other countries that the U.S. may have no choice but to launch a ground military operation to capture the Iranian island of Hormuz, according to The Jerusalem Post.

The island of Hormuz, located in the Persian Gulf, is Iran’s main oil export hub, with 90% of its crude oil destined for China. In recent days, discussions have begun within the U.S. administration regarding whether to seize the island to force Iran to stop blocking shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

One U.S. official confirmed that the U.S. military has accelerated the deployment of thousands of Marines and naval personnel to the Middle East.

The deployed forces include the USS Boxer strike group of the U.S. Navy, which consists of an amphibious assault ship serving as a light aircraft carrier, as well as the amphibious transport ships USS Portland and USS Comstock.
