US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick said that Ukraine will not get the money if President Volodymyr Zelensky does not seek peace.
“We had tables set up for signing. It was all meant to be pretty. But instead we had lunch by ourselves, without Zelensky's delegation, because they didn't come for peace,” Lutnick said.
He said Trump wants to end the war in Ukraine and create peace, Fox News reported.
“He even said you have to be judicious with Putin. You can't say Putin is a terrorist and then call him and try to negotiate peace with him. So you have to be balanced. Donald Trump knows how to be a mediator. He knows how to arbitrate. And he needs Zelensky. And Zelensky needed to hear it directly from the US, which funds Ukraine: 'We will not give you money if you do not seek peace,'” Lutnick said.
