Polish President Andrzej Duda, on the day of celebrating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, noted the key role played by the United States in this historic process.
“We remember that Europe owes its security to the involvement of the United States, which played a key role in ending World War II and then during the Cold War,” Duda wrote.
Duda said the world needs peace today, recalling Russian aggression against Ukraine, the conflict in the Middle East and the clashes between India and Pakistan. He emphasized that for Poland the end of World War II did not mean the desired freedom, but brought communist slavery, so now in free and sovereign Poland they remember this and draw conclusions. He emphasized that Europe owes its security precisely to the involvement of the United States, which played a key role in ending World War II and then during the Cold War.
“This is still the case today. That is why we want to strengthen transatlantic ties. It's not just diplomatic gestures. It's concrete actions. To deter, not to give in. To protect our security and that of future generations,” he said.
He called for responsibility for peace and for building a world based on the power of law, not the power of force.
