The Office of Polish President Karol Nawrocki responded to accusations that the highest Polish state award, which was taken away from Zelenskyy, still belongs to Benito Mussolini, Catherine the Great, and Gerhard Schröder.

Agnieszka Jędrzak, Minister of the Chancellery of the Polish President, stated that the Order of the White Eagle is not revoked posthumously, and regarding the controversial figure of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, she noted that he had not committed any actions that would prompt the revocation of his award.

"The first two are long dead, and Poland doesn't revoke the order posthumously. And the former German Chancellor has never so openly insulted the Polish nation as the Ukrainian president did, although his work for Putin's Russia truly deserves condemnation as harmful to Poland and Europe. During Schröder's tenure, no monuments to Hitler or Himmler were erected in Germany, and no Bundeswehr unit was named after 'SS heroes,'" she added.

Jędżak pointed out that Zelenskyy wasn't bothered by the presence of the Order of the White Eagle on these figures when he received the award.

"And he adds insult to injury by returning it via the postal service. The crux of the matter is that the Ukrainian leader deliberately insulted people who, over the past four years, have proven themselves to be Ukraine's best friends." "It's not right to honor the murderers of the ancestors of those who helped you when it was a matter of life and death," she emphasized.

She added that Navrotskyi had revoked the award but hadn't taken the outstretched hand.

"We support Ukraine, but we won't allow ourselves to be insulted," she concluded.
