The Greek-flagged oil tanker Skiros was attacked in the Black Sea after loading Russian oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal near Novorossiysk.

While the CPC primarily loads Kazakh oil, this particular shipment was of Russian origin. The attack occurred Sunday near the terminal, Bloomberg reports.

This is the first strike on a vessel calling at the CPC terminal a key export channel for Kazakh oil in a nearly three-week hiatus in attacks. Last month, repeated drone strikes disrupted the loading of CPC cargoes, which recently accounted for nearly 2% of global oil supply, and forced Kazakh oil fields to reduce production.

The Athens based company listed as Skiros's manager in the Equasis system stated that no one was injured in the incident, no pollution occurred, and that the vessel's owners were aware of the incident. The company declined to comment further.

Late last month, following a series of attacks on tankers, CPC even considered suspending operations to avoid environmental and safety risks, but decided to continue operations.
