Iran strikes ship in Strait of Hormuz

Korean authorities said there were no injuries among the six Korean citizens and 18 others on board the cargo ship that caught fire after Iran's attack in the Strait of Hormuz, the Financial Times reports.

The HMM Namu was the first vessel operated by a South Korean company to be damaged since the conflict between the US and Iran began.

The cause of the explosion and fire has not been officially confirmed. US President Donald Trump stated that Iran opened fire on commercial vessels in the strait.

"Iran opened fire on vessels of other countries during PROJECT FREEDOM shipping, specifically a South Korean cargo ship. Perhaps it's time for South Korea to join this mission," Trump tweeted.
