Macron criticized Trump's ideas on the Gaza Strip and stressed that the settlement process in the region should not be a real estate operation, but a political operation and take into account the Palestinians' desire to have their own state.

“Gaza is not some empty territory, it is a land where two million people live and want to live. We can't say to those two million: 'You know, you have to leave,'” he said in an interview with CNN.

He called for respect for Egypt and Jordan, where Trump has proposed moving Palestinians from Gaza.

“The right response right now is to rescue civilians. There is a truce in effect now, it should be maintained. Humanitarian action should be resumed and as many people as possible should be rescued,” Macron added.
