US President Donald Trump expressed his pleasure at being invited to dinner at the Palace of Versailles.
"The French president, who, by the way, is a very nice man, invited me to dinner at Versailles. Versailles isn't just gilded. It's something respectable," Trump remarked.
Trump acknowledged that this dinner would mean he would be leaving France late that night, according to Le Figaro.
"But in any case, I don't sleep much," he said.
French President Emmanuel Macron, commenting on Trump's invitation to Versailles, said it was a dinner to celebrate the 250th anniversary of US independence, as France played a role in it.
He made no secret of his intention to ensure Trump stayed until the very end of the G7 summit.
