"We needed to get Ukraine to do the right thing. It was not an easy situation. You saw a little scene in the Oval Office, but I think they're doing the right things now and we're trying to reach a peace agreement, reach a ceasefire and then a peace agreement," he said.

Trump added that many people are being killed in the war in Ukraine and expressed his belief that he has done the right thing.

Asked about cutting off arms and intelligence supplies to Ukraine, Trump said the decision had no consequences for the Ukrainian army in Russia's Kursk region.

"No, no, not at all. Quite the opposite, I think it was appreciated, and we have to understand and you have to understand that if I see somebody doing something bad that's going to result in a lot of deaths, the only reason I intervene is for humanity. I intervene for humanity because a lot of people are dying there," he said.
