The U.S. will launch a massive strike against the gas infrastructure of Iran’s South Pars field if Tehran attacks Qatar’s liquefied natural gas plants again.
"Israel will no longer attack South Pars unless Iran makes the unwise decision to attack Qatar. In that case, the U.S.—with or without Israel’s help and regardless of Israel’s consent—will massively destroy the entire South Pars gas field with a force and power that Iran has never seen before. I do not wish to authorize this level of violence and destruction due to the long-term consequences, but if Qatar’s LNG facilities are attacked again, I will not hesitate,” wrote U.S. President Donald Trump.
Trump stated that the recent strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field was carried out by Israel out of anger over events in the Middle East. According to him, a relatively small area was hit, and the U.S. and Qatar knew nothing about the preparations for this attack.
Trump noted that Iran mistakenly linked these actions to Qatar and launched a retaliatory strike on Qatari LNG facilities.
