US Senate has limited Trump's powers

The resolution was voted in favor by 50 senators, with 48 opposed. Democrats had been trying for weeks to secure Republican support for this vote, causing considerable irritation in the White House, according to CNN.

Since the document is a so-called consent resolution, it does not require the president's signature and is not formally enacted into law. House Democrats believe the resolution is binding.

Trump administration officials dismissed the vote as inconsequential and attributed its success solely to the absence of some Republicans during the session.

The White House stated that there are no combat zones from which American troops could be withdrawn, as hostilities ended with the ceasefire on April 7.

Democratic senators insist on the importance of the resolution even amid ongoing peace negotiations. Congress must clearly establish that a new resumption of conflict cannot occur without its consent.
