US won the Second World War - Trump

“The victory was won predominantly because of us - whether you like it or not - we entered that war and won it,” he said.

He added that the U.S. was greatly assisted by many wonderful allies, Ukrinform reported.

“But I don't think anybody would say that we were not the dominant force in that war,” he said.

According to Trump, it was American tanks, ships, trucks, airplanes and servicemen who defeated the enemy 80 years ago.

“Without America, liberation would never have happened. And so we must honor those people who gave us victory,” he said.

He added that the U.S. has restored peace and helped countries rebuild - something others have largely failed to do.

Trump noted that while Russia “lost millions of people, and that was absolutely an important factor, there was no other factor as important as us.”

“We won the war, but everybody celebrated except the United States of America,” he said.

The president said May 8 will remain a work day because “we already have too many holidays.”
