US wants to buy Greenland

Trump has made it clear that acquiring Greenland is a US national security priority and is important for deterring adversaries in the Arctic region, ABC News reports.

“The president and his team are discussing a number of options to achieve this important foreign policy goal, and of course, the use of the US Armed Forces is always an option that the commander-in-chief can use,” White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said.

When asked if he agreed with military action in Greenland, House Speaker Mike Johnson replied that he did not.

“No, I don't think it's appropriate,” Johnson added.
