Russia threatens UK critical infrastructure

Keast-Butler singles out Russia as a country targeting critical infrastructure, democratic processes, supply chains, and public trust, according to the BBC.

Russia has been accused of a number of espionage plots on British soil and, more recently, of waging an undeclared "hybrid war" against the UK and other NATO countries. The Kremlin denies these accusations.

Keast-Butler notes that GCHQ is working tirelessly to counter cyberattacks and what she calls reckless sabotage and assassination attempts.

"In the face of such aggression and chaos, GCHQ is working tirelessly with intelligence and defense partners to deter and mitigate the Russian threat," she notes.

GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) is the largest of the three British intelligence agencies, the others being the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6).
